Iced Luxury: Unusual Luxury Holidays in Chilly Destinations

Sunbathing isn’t for everyone, but with the value of the Pound doing exceptionally well against foreign currencies at the moment, now is a very good time to book a holiday and spend some time away from your job. You might have the notion that luxury holidays are generally found in destinations that are warm – the Caribbean, South America or Australia – but this isn’t necessarily the case.

In fact, if you’re the sort of person who enjoys the finer experiences life has to offer, but burn easily and can’t stand being seen in a bikini, then you’re actually spoilt for choice for suitable holiday destinations. If you’re asking yourself what are some of the best chilly luxury holiday experiences to be had, you’ve come to the right place, as we’ve compiled three of our favorites below. Enjoy.

1 – Reykjavik, Iceland

Reykjavik might not be the first place you’d point to on a map if asked where you could have an amazing holiday, but in reality, Iceland’s capital is full of amazing experiences just waiting to be had. With a relatively small, but friendly, liberal and welcoming population, the city will welcome you with open arms. You can explore the town, do some shopping, head to a restaurant and eat contemporary Nordic cuisine, and then head off to one of Iceland’s incredible natural spas, where you can swim outdoor in wonderfully warm water that is said to have revitalizing, health-boosting properties.

2 – Norway

There’s a lot to be said about Norway, and once you’ve been, it’s easy to see what makes this country one of the finest places to visit in the world. First off, Oslo, the country’s capital, is a bustling, thriving metropolis filled with the finest shops and entertainment. If you’re a fan of the opera, you must visit the opera house, which even to look at is a delightful spectacle. Outside of the city, you can take a luxury tour around the Norwegian arctic to spot whales in their natural habitat.

3 – Edinburgh, Scotland

Although this might be a little bit closer to home, Edinburgh – and Scotland in general – has a lot to offer those who are seeking a little bit of luxury at a cooler climate. Visit the castle and get swept away in history, take a trip to the National Museum and see Dolly the sheep, and then venture out of the city, head up north, and go on a whale and dolphin spotting trip.

Hopefully, one of these trips has piqued your fancy, and if you’re looking for luxury, you won’t find it better anywhere else.
